Suppose An Eyes is an exhibition and series of events I am organising in collaboration with Jacqueline Utley and Flora Whiteley.
The tour starts at Galerie Futura, Berlin (11 May – 14 June 2013) then travels to Transition Gallery, London (20 July-11 August 2013) and Vane, Newcastle (19 September – 26 October 2013).
“Suppose An Eyes takes its title from Gertrude Stein’s modernist, abstract text, Tender Buttons (1914), a group reading of which provided the catalyst for the project. As the text approaches its centenary the three artists are testing its relevance to contemporary art practice. They have used it as a catalyst for discussions, cross-referencing Stein’s textual abstraction with their own practices.”
The exhibition has a programme of collaborative events with artists, writers and academics from each city and a publication in collaboration with Annette Knol will be available.
